Had emailed ahead - just as well or I wouldn't have got the bike into the precincts. Was welcomed warmly at Reception, given a cup of tea (very civilised!) and informed that the Canon Pastor was coming to greet me!! Unfortunately I hadn't really allowed enough time and had to rush round getting my souvenirs and a few pics before closing time. Even the shop staff seemed to know I was coming! Attended Evensong, where again I was welcomed by name - having removed my jacket, felt very scruffy in my "Surfers Against Sewage" sweatshirt!!! The Canon Pastor pointed out that as Canterbury was the mother church of the C of E they liked to make visitors welcome to "their" cathedral. Yes, I did feel it was "mine", a bit like Southwell.
